Industrial visit has its own importance in the career of a student who is pursuing a professional degree. It is considered as a part of college curriculum and objectives of industrial visit is to provide students an insight regarding internal working of companies. In view of this an Industrial Visit was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University on 23rd November, 2021 for the students of BTech II, III and IV year students to ONGC Tel Bhawan, Dehradun.
Mr Vinay Gupta welcomed the students and briefed them about the company. The students were divided into two groups and given a detailed tour of the museum, followed by Mr Ashish Garg, Chief General Manager, ONGC Dehradun giving a group a tour of the ONGC green building which is an emerging construction technology in Engineering. He explained how one can reduce the production of carbon content. Green building reduces the carbon footprints therefore it is environmentally friendly. He also said that Green building refers to both a structure and the application of processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building’s life-cycle: from planning to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. At the end of visit, Mr Garg invited queries from the student end. Many students raised their queries and he responded to them aptly and with proper details, students were elated by this practical exposure.
This visit was coordinated by Mr Vivek John, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department, Mr Saurabh Aggarwal, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department and Mr Manohar Singh, Senior Technician, Mechanical Department. The visit proved to be a great learning experience for students.
