An Industrial Visit was organized by Uttaranachal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University on 21st September, 2021 for MCA I and III semester students to Rubico IT Private Limited, Dehradun. The visit was conceptualized and conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri (Dean, UIM). This visit was coordinated by Dr. Sonal Sharma (HOD, Computer Applications) and Mr. Ishteyaaq Ahmad (Assistant Professor, UIM). An Industrial visit has its own significance in the career of a student pursuing a professional programme; the purpose of this visit was to provide students an insight into real time software development process.
Mr. Sahil Joshua (Human Resource Manager, Rubico IT Private Limited) welcomed the MCA students and briefed them about the company.
Mr. Andrew Street (Human Resource Manager, Rubico IT Private Limited) explained the Vision and Mission of Rubico IT Private Limited, Uttarakhand’s leading software company. He explained about the company’s development and achievements since 2003.
Mr. Anil Painuly (Business Development/Solution Architect, Rubico IT Private Limited) communicated to the students about the technologies which are used by the company for software development. The students were informed about frontend/backend technologies including Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript, React Native etc. The information was very well received by students.
The students were divided in a group of 8-10 members according to their preference of Frontend/Backend/Quality Assurance/Website/App Development. Rubico Team members Mr. Mohd.Mustafa (Frontend Enginner), Mr.Suraj (Backend Enginner), Miss. Sonakshi Sethi(Asstt. Software Engineer) and Mr. Ankit Malwa (Software Engineer) took the lead and gave the students group a tour of the entire building including software development area (India Floor and America Floor), Conference rooms, discussion areas, guest house etc. They were offered with refreshments in cafeteria.
Mr. Cyndre (Asst. Manager, Panasonic) made an interesting presentation on “Adding Value by Your Presence”. He talked about importance of communication.
Ankita (HR Manager, Rubico IT Private Limited) informed about Career Opportunities at Rubico IT Private Limited. She said with the advancement and accessibility of technology, there has been a growing demand for software throughout the world.
The visit proved to be a great learning experience for students not only on technical front, but also creating awareness about real time software development process. Students expressed their gratitude towards Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Dean (UIM) and Dr. Sonal Sharma (HOD, Computer Applications) for providing them with opportunities beyond academics to enhance their knowledge and technical skills.
