An Industrial Tour to the Manufacturing Unit of ‘Parle Biscuits Private Limited’, Rudrapur (Uttarakhand) was organized by the Department of Management, Uttaranchal Institute of Management from 13-16 October 2017.
The objective of the tour was to provide students with an insight regarding the internal functioning of the company and minutely observe the manufacturing, packaging and distribution process of their products.
84 students from MBA, BBA, and B.Com.(Hons.) accompanied by the faculty members of Management, Mr. A.K.S. Chauhan, Ms. Usha Patel and Mr. Ravindra Rawat departed from the College on 13th October 2017 and reached their destination the next day. They were welcomed by Ms. Reetu Khulbe, the HR Manager, and other staff members of Parle Biscuits (P) Ltd.
First of all, the HR Manager showed a small animated film too brief the students regarding the company’s origin, history and the 6 stages of product mixing and manufacturing comprised of the following:
- Raw Material Testing
- Mixing
- Baking
- Cooling
- Packaging
- Distribution.
Thereupon, the HR Manager took them to the Manufacturing Unit to make them understand the technicalities of the manufacturing process. The students were glad to witness an ultra modern plant deploying innovative practices.
The students evinced great interest in understanding the overall process of manufacturing. They discussed the fine details of production with the attendant staff and asked questions related thereto. The staff members honored their queries with relevant facts and figures. The faculty members too were enthralled by the vastness of the manufacturing plant and the modern techniques executed by the company. The Industrial Visit concluded by 2:00 pm.
In the second phase, the group proceeded to Bheemtal, Nainital and other surrounding areas as part of the excursion aimed to rejuvenate the students.
