An Induction Programme was organized by Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University on 18th Sept2 021 to welcome the Fresher’s first-year under-graduate and post-graduate students of Management, Computer Applications and Hotel Management Department. The induction ceremony was held at Vivekananda Auditorium . The ceremony set the stage for the rich and wholesome amalgamation of inspirational motivational speeches, insights into rules and regulations and academic activities.
The Master of Ceremony, Mr. Shivendra Choudhary, welcomed all the dignitaries, Faculty Members, Administrative Staff and the new students. At the outset Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Vice Chancellor, felicitated Hon’ble Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, Shri Jitender Joshi. Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri (Dean-UIM), Prof.(Dr) Ajay Singh (Dean-SALS & DSW), Prof.(Dr) S.D Pandey (Dean-UIT & Head-Anti Ragging Committee), Prof(.Dr) Bharti Ramola (Chairperson-ICC), , Dr. Sonal Sharma (HOD-Computer Applications), Dr. Megha Aggarwal (HOD-Management), Mr. Manish Badoni (HOD-Hotel Management), Faculty Members (UIM), Mr. K. B. Pokhriyal (COE) and Mr. Rajesh Deorari (Manager-QMS) were present in the programmed. Thereafter, the dignitaries were invited for the auspicious Lamp Lighting Ceremony. The University anthem followed soon after profoundly making the ambiance filled with warmth and brightness.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, stressed upon the importance of setting goals in life and being focused in achieving the same. He told the students that apart from books in the libraries, our university also has a virtual digital library for their benefit.
Prof (Dr.) Pradeep Suri delivered a most motivating speech, focussing on several points that one must follow in college life or rather life in order to be successful and happy. He homogenised the speech with several pointers and examples from real life and from media to which the young students could co relate. Further he stressed on the question, “What is Success?” having the listeners seek an answer as he himself pointed out 6 points that one must remember to find an answer to the question “Correct Knowledge, (Technical/Interpersonal) Skills, Collect friends not followers, Choose your Path and be firm, Collect Experience, Correct your purpose in life”.
Chancellor, Shri Jitender Joshi, Further He started his speech by commending and congratulating the college staff. Then he addressed the students congratulating them in their enrolment in the new course and in start of their future. He kept his speech brief and advised the students to be attentive and active towards their college courses. He further proceeded with the Hindi quote, “Boond Boond se hi ghada bharta hai”.
Upon the completion of the Chancellor’s speech the senior students of UIM were invited to the stage to perform the Kumauni Dance, depicting the culture of the Dev-Bhoomi, Uttarakhand where the institution is located.
Prof. (Dr) Ajay Singh, explained the students the Dean Student Welfare Program, which provides the students with opportunities to explored their talents in Sports, Cultural and Academic events etc.
Prof. (Dr) S.D Pandey stressed on the majorly that we had “Ragging Free Campus”, and ragging is strictly prohibited in within the university and he also introduced the members of Anti-Ragging Committee at UIM-Level.
Prof. (Dr) Bharti Ramola as a Chairperson of ICC focused on the basic aims and objectives of the ICC are to inculcate moral values through the mode of discussion and counselling. Creation of awareness among the female students about their rights and duties so as to protect themselves from any type of harassment.
Thereafter, HOD- Computer Applications, Dr. Sonal Sharma, took the opportunity to introduce the faculty members of Department of Computer Applications and Hotel Management to the new students, thus encouraging the students to gain from the huge knowledge pool available to them. Dr. Sonal also emphasized on the significance of application of knowledge for working in the corporate and thus learn things practically using the latest technology. She informed the students about the Bridge Course and the Value-Added Programme which shall be conducted for the UG and PG students respectively.
Thereafter, Dr. Megha Aggarwal (HOD-Management) introduced all the faculty members of Management Department to the new students and encouraged them to gain from the pool of knowledge at their disposal.
Head – Discipline Committee& Controller of Examination, Mr. A.K.S. Chauhan stressed upon the students to adopt focussed and disciplined approach in life for success. He further reiterated that learning cannot be achieved without being disciplined in their behaviour. He also shared the evaluation pattern with the students.
Head – Cultural Affairs, Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pathak gave a vivid explanation of various clubs and cells at UIM designed for overall development of students.
Head-Sports Committee, Mr. Farman Ali, gave details about the various games and contests organized by the institute at national, intra and inter University level. He emphasized that sports should be an integral part of life and motivated students to be competitive and collaborative.
The Induction program was well-designed to introduce the cohort to the institution in terms of norms and guidelines of the institution and facilitate easy adaptation to the new environment while also encouraging them to work towards achieving their life and career goals. The event concluded with Vote of Thanks being proposed by Master of Ceremony. The programme was a resounding success with around 650 students.
