Department of Hotel Management Dehradun started its Induction Programme on 16th August, 2019, wherein the new students were welcomed by the seniors and faculty members of DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT as a mark of a new beginning for all the freshers. Students were welcomed with teeka and aarti at the DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT entrance by the senior batch students showing the inherited hospitality. The students were then escorted to the auditorium for the Induction Programme.
Mr. Surendra Singh (Faculty-DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT ) proudly introduced the students with the assets of the DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT and the future prospects of their respective courses (BHM). The speech covered various aspects of college life assimilating students to their new surroundings and building up a positive attitude amidst the student community. He also explained the importance of attending the lectures and maintaining a good attendance record of 75%.
After this, Mr. Surendra Singh interacted with the students and gave a presentation wherein he briefed about various departments of Uttaranchal University, its history and other constituent colleges. Students were also briefed about the Vision & Mission of DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT . A brief Faculty Introduction Session was incorporated.
Students were also delivered information regarding the Activity Calendar of the Odd Semester of the DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT .
After this, Mr. Manish Badoni, HOD– DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT , interacted with the students and delivered a Thank You Note. The programme was concluded by serving Tea & Snacks at the Training Restaurant “Rendezvous”.
The Second Day focused on building and identifying leadership qualities and their dedication. The students were engaged in team management activity like helium bar, ball to net and the like.
A session on introduction to hospitality industry was conducted and students came to know about the future scope of hospitality industry. The interactive session and activity was led by Mr. Shashi Kant.
On the Third Day Mr. Manish Badoni educated and informed the new students of DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT about the importance of grooming and personality development in Hospitality Industry. While grooming requirements will vary between men and women, it is important that both look clean and presentable while they are on the clock. Grooming is exceptionally important in hospitality industry. How you look, dress and present yourself expresses a lot about your approach towards guests. Since you are the face of your organization, no matter what your job role is, grooming makes you and as an extension your organization presentable.
Post lunch students were taken for a campus tour showing around the places and spaces the students need to know in order to be ready for their term in the university. Faculty members and lab attendants answered to all the questions and queries of the students. Subsequent to this, the students went to Computer Centre and central library.
On Day 4 post-lunch an interaction between students and T&P Cell was scheduled. Mr. Iqbaal Singh Sahani, Head – Training and Placement, interacted with the students and gave them necessary information regarding the activities of T&P. He also delivered information about the regular recruiters of the university, separately for each branch. He made the students aware of the importance of campus interviews/placements within the university. He directed the students regarding their preparation and initiatives towards placement activities in future. The students were also told about the qualities and attributes they need to attain to improve upon for chances of success in campus placements.
On to the continuation of Orientation Program Department of Hotel Management (DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT ) invited a Resource Person Ms. Anvita Kishore, Head – Learning & Development, Antara Senior Living, Dehradun, on 21st August, 2019, the fifth day of the programme. The programme commenced with the welcome of the Guest by Hon’ble Vice- Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, along with the welcome of HOD-DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT , Faculty Members and First Year Students by the Master of the Ceremony, Mr. Sashi Kant. The dignitaries lighted the inaugural lamp which was followed by the recital of the Kulgeet.
While addressing the students Ms. Anvita Kishore explained various ways which can be implemented in life to be motivated and optimist even in adverse situations. She also shared methods by which one can groom ones personality. She elaborated the content through her own life experiences including varied interesting stories which made it very easy for the students to understand.
Hon’ble Vice- Chancellor in his message asked the students to pay full attention towards their studies and practicals. He motivated the students to aspire for high aims and be amongst the leaders. Vice -Chancellor in his message also encouraged the students to go for entrepreneurship and start-ups along with their studies. He also motivated the students to take part in extra-curricular activities held in the college and at the University level.
At the end a Thank You Note was delivered by HOD-DEPARTMENT OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT Mr. Manish Badoni. He thanked the distinguished guest and Hon’ble Vice- Chancellor for their valuable thoughts and time shared with the students.
Orientation Programme was scheduled and conducted on 29th August, 2019.
