A Guest Lecture on ‘Project Operations & Its Challenges’ was organized on 20th November, 2017, by the Department of Management, Uttaranchal Institute of Management. The Key Speaker was US-based Ms. Vidhi Tyagi, Ex– Deputy Manager, Tata Power Solar Ltd., Bangalore.
The guest lecture was attended by Dr. S M Mariyam Fatima (HOD-Management), faculty members of the Department of Management, Final Year MBA students and last but not the least, Ms Madhu Arora who was highly instrumental in co-ordinating with the Key Speaker and in organising and executing the programme.
The programme commenced with the felicitation of the Guest Speaker Ms Vidhi Tyagi by Dr. S M Mariyam Fatima (HOD, Management).The master of ceremony, Ms. Vrinda Kaushik (Student-MBA-III), introduced the Key Speaker and enlisted her achievements. Ms. Vidhi Tyagi has a corporate work experience of ten years and has held key managerial positions in the planning & execution of various projects. She started her career as a Management Trainee with GMR Energy Ltd., Bangalore and has also worked as Deputy Manager with Tata Power Solar Energy Ltd., Bangalore.
The Guest Speaker shared her experiences of various projects where she had been instrumental in planning & execution. She emphasized that a project is not the sole responsibility of the Project Executing Team, rather it is a joint effort of the giant organizational team, including all the related departments. Ms Vidhi Tyagi shared her experience of one of the solar power projects in Rajasthan in which she was one of the key-planners.
The audience remained glued to her session to gain from her rich expertise sharing. She further explained the detailed working of project logistics. Technical aspects of project management like GANTT CHART, Critical Factors Analysis, Planning, Inventory Management, After Sales Service, Contingency Plans and Strategic Management were also elaborately explained.
Towards conclusion the session became highly interactive as students had many queries pertaining to Project Operations and its challenges which were appropriately answered by the resource person.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Vrinda Kaushik.
