Grand Celebration of Law Day at Uttaranchal University Unveiling of Wall of Heroes at University Campus Record Blood Donation 1085 Units in a day.

Dehradun 24 November. Special and multi-faceted programmes were organized on the Law Day at Law College Dehradun faculty of Uttaranchal University. On this occasion, Shaurya Wall (Wall of Heroes) constructed at the University campus was unveiled and a Mega Blood Donation camp also was organized.

Hon’ble Higher Education Minister (Independent Charge) Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat was present as Chief Guest in the programme while Shri Ranjit Singh Verma, Chairman State Red Cross Society and Former M.L.A. was also present as the special guest. Hon’ble guests offered bouquet of flowers before the pictures of Paramveer Chakra recipients. At the outset, National Anthem was sung at the venue of the programme followed by impressive presentation of National Song ’Vande Matram’ by the students. The venue was overwhelmed with slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ in the honour of ‘Paramveer Chakra Winners’.The college organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp in which Red Cross Society, N.S.S., Rotary Club, Mehant Indiresh, Blood Bank, I.M.A. Blood Bank and Doon Hospital Blood Bank vigorously participated.

Principal of the college, Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna stated that around 3000 students from seven faculties of the university including Law College Dehradun registered for the event and about 1085 students successfully donated blood after the preliminary blood tests. Hence Uttaranchal University broke its own earlier blood donation record of 933 units.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Chancellor of the university said that blood donation camps are the integral part of Law Day Celebrations at the university. He maintained that the programme basically aimed at creating awareness among the students and infusing the spirit of sacrifice and services for the national cause in them.

In his address, Hon’ble Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh outlined the need for value-based quality education for the students which could enable them to contribute the nation with the best of their capabilities. He expressed concern over the plight of national talent to foreign countries and briefed about various programmes of government directed towards streamlining the higher educational system and increasing the accessibility of cancer based higher education for the students of downtrodden and deprived sections of the society. He also stressed the need for developing patriotic sentiments among the students during their studies which would keep them focused towards their national responsibilities. He also thanked Uttaranchal University for providing quality based higher education to the students.
