GLOBE Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management conducts the fourth phase of its social activity "Ek Kapda Daan”

GLOBE (Global Learning & Observation to Benefit the Environment) Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, conducted the fourth phase of its social activity ‘EK KAPDA DAAN ( Donation of Old Clothes)’ for the under-privileged members of society in association with Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti, an NGO of Dehradun, on 26th September, 2018. The mission of the Samiti is to provide support to the weaker sections of the society.

Director – UIM, Prof.(Dr.) Pradeep Suri graced the noble occasion with his presence. This activity was pursued by the head of Globe Club, Dr. Mamta Bansal along with support from Mr. Ravindra Singh Rawat (Cultural & Academic In-charge) and the faculty members of the Globe Club, Dr. Swati Anand , Ms. Pooja Gupta ,Ms. Kanika Singhal, Ms. Prabhjot Kaur & Mr Rohit Dhiman. Everyone, including the faculty members, staff and students of UIM donated their old clothes. Students contributed enthusiastically in the form of collection of clothes, proper segregation and generating awareness amongst other students of UIM. Students, from various courses, who volunteered towards the activity were Harshit, Gulsheen, Ajay, Ayush, Shweta, Vanshika, Tanuja, Navneet, Somya, Richa, Prerna, Komal, Muskaan, Apeksha, Khushi and Karan, to name a few. Students along with the members of Swami Jan Sewa Samiti distributed the old clothes to the needy people and actually put into practice the Bible teaching “God has a special concern and care for those in need and if we really love God then we should be helping, serving and giving to the poor”.

Students were taught to save the environment through the adoption of 3 R’s i.e. Recycle, Reuse and Reduce. Donation of clothes was emphasized upon in order to: help people who can’t afford clothes; help disaster victims; conserve natural resources by reusing them and finally to help under-privileged members of our society.

The Head of Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti, Mr. Vinayak Sharma along with his team members interacted with faculty members and students emphasizing upon the significance of the Donation Drive. He also informed them about the Cloth Bank created by the Samiti for continuous collection and distribution of clothes to the needy throughout the year. Students enthusiastically supported and showed eagerness to contribute as volunteers for future Donation Drives.

Such noble drives and activities help strengthen the students’ emotional health and ignite a feeling of compassion amongst them.
