Globe Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management conducts “Ek Kapda Daan”

Globe Club (Global Learning & Observation to Benefit the Environment) of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, conducted the fifth phase of its social activity “Ek Kapda Daan’ ( Donation of Old Clothes) for the under-privileged members of society in association with NGO of Dehradun, Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti on 23th March, 2019.

Dean and Director UIM, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri graced the noble occasion with his presence. This activity was pursued by the Head of Globe Club, Dr. Mamta Bansal along with the faculty members of the Globe Club, Dr. Diksha Panwar, Ms. Pooja Gupta, Ms. Kanika Singhal, Ms. Prabhjot Kaur and Mr. Rohit Dhiman. Everyone including, UIM faculty, staff and students donated old clothes generously. After collection of clothes, proper segregation and arrangements were ascertained by volunteer Student Members of Globe Club. Moreover, students of UIM along with Swami Jan Sewa Samiti members distributed the old clothes to the needy people and actually put into practice the Bible teaching “God has a special concern and care for those in need and if we really love God then we should be helping, serving and giving to the poor”. Donation of clothes was emphasized upon in order to help people who cannot afford adequate clothes, help disaster victims, conserve natural resources by reusing them and finally help the under-privileged members of our society.

The Head of Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti, Mr. Vinayak Sharma along with his team members interacted with faculty members and students emphasizing upon the significance of the Donation Drive. He also informed them about the Cloth Bank created by the Samiti for continuous collection and distribution of clothes to the needy throughout the year. Students enthusiastically supported and showed eagerness to contribute as volunteers for future Donation Drives.

Through this activity the students were taught to save the environment through the adoption of 3R’s formula i.e. Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.
