Department of communication organized a one-day Workshop and Guest Lecture on ‘Fundamentals of Print Media’ for 1st Year students of BAJMC on 2nd April, 2019. Mr. Prince Maheshwari, City Head, Dainik Jagran, Dehradun was the Resource Person of the Workshop. Mr. Prince Maheshwari is a renowned Journalist and is working since 10 Years. He attained his education from IIMC, Delhi and has worked with Hindustan and Amar Ujala. Presently, he is associated with Dainik Jagran as City In-Charge.
The event included two sessions. In the first session Mr. Prince discussed about the Reporting and Editing Techniques in Print Media. He told about some of his experiences and his own journalistic career. While addressing the students he told about the working pattern in a newsroom. He discussed about the importance of Print Journalism in this era wherein it is hard to rely on news from different online and offline outlets. Moving ahead, he discussed about fake news and its effects on youngsters. He later discussed about the impact of social media, the situation of different news channels and expressed his opinions & personal views. The students cleared their doubts and queries.
The Second Session was dedicated to Quark Xpress and In-design Software Workshop. Mr. Prince taught about designing and solved the queries of students regarding practical problems in designing. He taught designing aspects on Quark Xpress and Adobe In-Design Software. He designed a newspaper, told some designing technicalities and gave some amazing ideas about designing a newspaper & magazine. Students asked some questions which he answered aptly. He also reviewed a newspaper & gave his valuable opinions and told where the students were lacking in designing a newspaper. The event was conducted under the supervision of the Faculty Members of Department of Communication.
