Department of Civil Engineering conducts FOSS (Free and Open Source Software Programs) Examination

The Department of Civil Engineering has always shown its active presence in every domain of education including workshops, seminars or development programs for students and faculty members conducted by various established esteemed institutes like IITs. All these activities reflect upon the approach of holistic development of the students. It has been actively involving its students as well as teachers in various programs and platforms such as NPTEL, FOSS and the like. One such decision adjudicated by the department was its involvement in the FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) Certification Program conducted under “The Spoken Tutorial” Project; an initiative of the ‘Talk to a Teacher’ Activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. Students of all the semesters of Civil Engineering were enrolled in the program where they got the opportunity to learn various open and free software for free.

The Department of Civil Engineering conducted the examination of the students of III, V and VII Semesters registered in the FOSS Program on November 7th, 2019 at 10:30 am. All the students appeared for the Certification Exam. The students of III Semester were enrolled for QCad Software, V Semester for OpenFOAM Software and VII Semester for Blender Software. The exam was organized by Mr. Gaurav Thakur (FOSS Coordinator), Mr. Awadhesh Chandramauli (Department Coordinator) and Mr. Ashish Pathani.
