Mr. Jitendra Joshi, the chancellor of Uttaranchal University was felicitated by Uttarakhand State Human Right Commission on the occasion of National Law Day on 26th November, 2013. Mr. Jitendra Joshi was conferred this honor for his invaluable contribution to the cause of higher education and social service.
The other dignitaries present at this occasion were Hon’ble Justice Cyriac Joseph, member National Human Right Commission, formerly Chief Justice of Uttarakhand and former judge of Supreme Court; Hon’ble Justice V.S. Sirpurkar, Chairperson, Competition Appellate Tribunal, formerly Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court and former Supreme Court Judge, Hon’ble Justice Vijender Jain, Chairperson Uttarakhand State Human Right Commission and former Chief Justice of Haryana and Punjab High Court and Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Tandon, member, Uttrakhand State Human Right Commission and former judge of Nainital High Court.
At this occasion Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Principal and Dean of Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University addressed the august gathering. He extolled the role being played by Uttaranchal University in furthering the cause of legal education through its benchmarked Law College Dehradun.
He also apprised the distinguished gathering about the untiring efforts being made by the university to offer legal services to the poor people through its Legal Aid Centre (LAC).
