Department of Mechanical Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology appreciates the effort of Aakash Kumar Shah, Shubham Butola & Kotha Vinay of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Uttaranchal University for designing and fabrication of an “Off-Road Wheel Chair” as part of their final year project under the supervision of Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Joshi (HOD-Mechanical Engineering Department) who guided the students in designing and fabrication in low cost, off road buggy which carries a load of upto 200 kgs.
A lightweight off-road wheelchair is specifically built for travelling in sandy as well as off-road terrains in rural and less developed areas. The vehicle runs on a battery and does not produce any harmful emissions, designed and built by the team, is aimed at posing a strong challenge to the current generation of many off road vehicles.
Honourable Chancellor, Uttaranchal University Shri Jitendra Joshi, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Director – Students Affairs & IT Services, Prof. (Dr.) Abhishek Joshi and Dean-UIT Prof. (Dr.) S.D. Pandey encouraged students to carry out such projects having impact on society through the application of engineering knowledge.
