School of Agriculture (SOA), Uttaranchal University organized a workshop on ‘IPR and Data Analysis in Agriculture’. The event started at 2:30 pm with the welcome and felicitation of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi by Prof (Dr) Mahipal Singh, Dean, SOA. Prof (Dr) Rajesh Singh, Director, Division of Research & Innovation, Guest Speaker, Prof (Dr) Anita Gehlot, Head, Division of Research & Innovation, faculty members and students also witnessed the event. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi encouraged students and asked them to come out of the shackles of the traditional umbrella of theoretical learning into an arena of Innovation. He emphasized more IPR enhancement in the field of agriculture through patents, copyright etc. in addition, a Special Guest, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Singh, Director, Division of Research & Innovation also asked students to come up with new ideas and ways to solve them. He was applauded for his motivating speech by students. Our Guest Speaker Prof (Dr) Anita Gehlot, Head, Division of Research & Innovation later taught students and faculty members about patent writing and filing, copyright, GI, Plant protection, and other IPR components and their procedures. In her lecture, she asked students to enhance IPR not only for the University but for the country as well. On the second day, the workshop started at 2.30 pm with the first module taken by the Head of the Department, Dr Rajendra Prasad on ‘Data Analysis in Agriculture’. He thoroughly explained to students about data collection, analysis, and interpretation. He also explained to students the importance of different software required for data analysis. The second module consisted of ‘Referencing styles’ which was taken by Dr Siddharth Shankar Bhatt. He explained to students about different referencing styles used by researchers worldwide with more focus on the APA style which is currently used by the School of Agriculture. A vote of thanks was proposed by the Head of the Department Dr Rajendra Prasad.
