The Department of Civil Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University organized a 2 Day Workshop on “Analysis & Design of RCC Structures using STAAD.Pro” in association with Well Build CAD DESK Center, Vikas Nagar on 25 April 2022 and 26 April 2022 from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily for the students of B Tech (Civil Engineering) & M Tech (Construction Technology & Management). This workshop was organized to improve the skills and abilities of the students and help them prepare for the industrial requirements. The trainer for the workshop was Ms Deeksha Chauhan, civil software trainer, Well Build CAD Desk Center. This workshop focussed on the analysis and design of RCC buildings using STAAD.Pro software which is a structural analysis and design software application by Bentley Systems. It can apply more than 90 international steel, concrete, timber and aluminium design codes.
On the first day of the workshop, Ms Deeksha covered various topics such as the basics of STAAD.Pro, some basic terminologies, 2D and 3D modeling in STAAD.Pro, advanced tools in STAAD.Pro, analysis of building and advanced detailing of structures. Students were given real life projects on the second day of the workshop, which also consisted of the design of foundations. This workshop provided a very useful platform to gain information about the basics of STAAD.Pro software and have a hands-on analysis and design of real life building projects using STAAD.Pro. The interactive lab session helped the students to clear their doubts while practicing real-life projects. The students explored different aspects of the software such as its use, working, and application to real-world problems. Overall, it was a very good experience for the students as they learnt new software and enhanced their knowledge and skills. The workshop was moderated by Mr Awadhesh Chandramauli HoD, Civil Engineering, UIT, Uttaranchal University, and successfully organized by Mr Gaurav Thakur, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering, UIT, Uttaranchal University.
