Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)

Bachelor of Physiotherapy is a professional programme that deals with the science of physical movement and directing it to prevent disability of movement. Physiotherapy or physical therapy is a health profession that helps people maintain or restore their physical mobility, function, and strength. Under this programme electrotherapy, evidence-based kinesiology, exercise prescription, and shockwave mobility to treat chronic conditions of the bones and soft tissues are used. Physiotherapists work with patients and their families/caretakers to cure problems experienced as a result of illness, injury, and disability.

Students will learn a variety of client-centered responsive services, rehabilitation practises, and psychosocial, ethical, and legal issues pertaining to physiotherapy practice. This programme demands its aspirants to have sound clinical knowledge and the scientific sense behind all the clinical modes performed for the clients. This profession demands high patience with its clients and high levels of empathy towards their ailment and sufferings. They have to keep reassuring their patients and explain every step of their therapy before performing it on them. Students graduate with a strong base in critical subjects such as Neurology, Orthopaedics, Traumatology, Exercise Therapy, Pharmacology, Psychology, Sociology, First-Aid, and Neurophysiology.

Career Prospects:

All the physiotherapy graduates get opportunities to be hired in top hospitals and health centres with attractive salary packages. If students can prove their practical expertise, then they can find high-paying jobs in the sports stadium, ministry of sports, various health societies, etc. They can also perform independent practice and practice as a freelancer.

Admission Procedure:	Admission is based on merit computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible candidates. Out of the total intake, 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand under the State Quota and the rest are open to students from All India. In case the allotted percentage of seats of State Quota remains vacant, it will be filled by All India students.
