Geographical Information System (GIS) is an inter-disciplinary field that builds expertise in the application of geospatial technologies to the most important real-world concerns in the areas of the environment, earth sciences, social sciences, and economics. The field focuses on translating geospatial data into useful end-user information by using acquisition, processing, characterisation, analysis, and modelling to better understand geographic patterns, processes, and interactions at all scales, from macro to global. The Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and robotics have all been linked through GIS. As a result, GIS knowledge and abilities are in high demand among today’s students and professionals. Owing to this Uttaranchal University offers specialization in the field of Remote Sensing and GIS to undergraduate students who have enrolled in B.Tech Civil Engineering program.

Admission Procedure:	Admission is based on merit, computed on the basis of marks secured in JEE (Main) / All National Aptitude Tests/Qualifying Examination/Performance of candidates in personal interview. Out of the total intake, 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand under the State Quota and the rest are open to students from All India. In case the allotted percentage of seats of State Quota remains vacant, it will be filled by All India students.
