M.A. Clinical Psychology

Clinical psychology deals with a wide range of mental, emotional, and behavioural issues. Clinical psychology aims to combine psychology’s research with the prevention and treatment of a wide range of complex human issues. The course provides specialization in Personality psychology, clinical neuropsychology, behavioural modification, applied clinical project/thesis, and clinical-community psychology.

Students will have access to a broader range of learning opportunities to facilitate the practical experience and will also have access to a large internship pool. Individuals and families receive ongoing and comprehensive mental and behavioural health care through this two-year programme, which includes advice to agencies and communities, training, education, and supervision, as well as research-based approaches.

Career Prospects:

Psychology post-graduates move into an extremely wide range of careers with ample opportunities in hospitals, schools, management, NGOs, Social Welfare Sectors, Training Industry, Rehabilitation and extending to many other professional roles. A post-graduate in psychology can seek jobs in universities, schools & colleges, clinics, hospitals and government and non-government organizations.  After the completion of this programme, post-graduates pursue M. Phill/ Doctorate or work in positions like counsellors, industrial-organizational psychologists, clinical psychologists, and military psychologists.

  • Pass in Graduation with minimum 45% marks in aggregate from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • Note: Relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility criteria shall be given to the candidate who belongs to SC/ ST category.

Admission Procedure:
  • Admission is based on merit computed based on marks secured in graduation. University also conducts interviews of all eligible applicants before admission.
  • Out of total intake 40% of seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand state under state quota and the rest are open to students from all over India.
