This program has been specially designed to meet the increasing need for professionals who are able to respond to the advanced knowledge requirements of the industry, research organizations and academics. It is aimed towards research and development with exposure and experience of working amidst cutting-edge technology. Thermal Engineering emphasizes on the applications of the elemental principles of Thermal Engineering, which include Steam Power Plants, turbine Power Plants, Petroleum Refineries, and Solar Appliances, Cooling of equipment and Devices, Automobiles, I.C. Engines, Refrigeration Plants, Air-Conditioning System, Cold Storage Units, Propulsion Systems.
The first two semesters cover programme courses in the identified field, facilitating the scholars to find out both the basics and thereafter advances in various core and elective subjects supported by laboratory programme, supported with lab sessions in Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory, Thermal Engineering Laboratory and Energy Systems Laboratory. In third and fourth semesters, students accomplish their projects in industries and obtain exposure of varied avenues in the field of Thermal Engineering through theoretical (analytical or numerical) and experimental Dissertation work.
Career Prospects:
Students with Postgraduate Degree in Thermal Engineering have job avenues in research organizations after clearing competitive exams set by agencies, companies and industries. Students, out of their passion, can also opt for teaching and research in the academic world and may even undertake research programs leading to Ph. D in the specialized area.
