M.A. Political Science

The aim of a master’s degree in political science is to build a strong foundation of students in political studies by exploring a broad range of political phenomena at the local, national, and international levels. The programme provides an insight into the working of society and governments, different political theories and processes, and questions and ideas that is shaping the 21st Century.

The Programme provides an option for specialising in Indian and Western Political Thoughts, Political Theories, Comparative Politics, International Relations and Indian Government and Politics. Learners would thus acquire skills in political analysis as well as sharpen their analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Career prospects

Students can find employment opportunities in Central, State, or Local Government agencies, enter into Politics, Law, Social Sector Services, or Academia, pursue Political Journalism, Teaching, or aim to become a Civil Servant/Political Advisor.

Admission Procedure:	The admission is based on merit, computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible candidates. Out of the total intake, 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand under the State Quota and the rest are open to students from all India. In case the allotted percentage of seats of State Quota remains vacant, it will be filled by All India students.
