Diploma in Pharmacy

A person who has completed D.Pharm. can be employed as a registered pharmacist in a community pharmacy (wholesale or retail-medical store/chemists & druggists) or hospital pharmacy. It is the minimum qualification to practice the pharmacy profession, therefore, it is mandatory that all dispensing of prescription medicines has to be done under the supervision of a pharmacist only. There are several avenues also available in the pharmaceutical industry. Pharmacy Diploma Qualifications are eligible to take admission in B Pharm 2nd year.

  • D.Pharm. makes a person eligible to work as a registered Pharmacist in India.
  • After completing the programme a person can get employment opportunities as Pharmacist in private and government Hospitals.

  • The programme also enables people to get entry level jobs in pharmaceutical companies at various divisions like Process Control, Manufacturing and Quality Control.
  • Person can work as a Medical Representative. Although, there is pressure of meeting target in this profession, but incentives and other perks makes this profession quite rewarding.
  • If a person is equipped with entrepreneurship spirit, he/she can open their own retail pharmacy outlet, wholesale business or surgical items shop.
  • There is also scope of higher studies after D.Pharm. person can directly apply for the second year of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma), after completing a Diploma in Pharmacy programme.
  • Bachelor degree in law after D.Pharm. a makes a person eligible to work as Intellectual property lawyers.

  • 10+2 / equivalent examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with Mathematics or Biology from any recognized board.
  • Minimum 50% marks or 45% in case of SC/ST category.

Admission Procedure:
  • Admission is based on merit computed on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible candidates.
  • Out of the total intake, 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand under the State Quota and the rest are open to students from all over India. In case the allotted percentage of seats of State Quota remains vacant, it will be filled by All India students.
