Finance Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University organized a webinar on “Mutual Fund: A tool for prosperity” in collaboration with Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) on 23rd February 2022 at virtual platform.
Shri Surya Kant Sharma, Manager, Senior Consultant, AMFI, EX DGM SEBI was the eminent speaker for the said webinar. Master of Ceremony, Ms Neeti Misra, hosted the webinar for all Management and Computer Application students and welcomed the dignitaries and members of faculty. She also elaborated on the basic aspects of mutual funds. Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM, Uttaranchal University highlighted about the investments in mutual funds are relatively less risky than other investment options available in the stock markets and also investors can multiply their money within a short period.
Shri Surya Kant discussed in detail about mutual funds in a very simple manner so as to encourage students to take interest in the topic. He mentioned that a mutual fund is basically a money given to the professionals to invest in the securities with which an investor can earn a desired income. He further elaborated that mutual funds are very safe as regulated by SEBI but provides no guarantee of returns and so tried to make everyone aware that it is the responsibility of a prospective investor to select the mutual funds schemes carefully after proper analysis depending upon their motive of earning profits and the risk bearing capacity. He also mentioned that mutual funds provide flexibility in both investment and redemption means any time one can invest or withdraw money from mutual funds. He also discussed the latest changes being introduced by SEBI in the mutual funds regarding the riskometer being attached to the different schemes with the help of which anyone can judge about the risks involved in the schemes of mutual fund. He concluded his talk by saying that people of any age can invest in mutual funds.
The webinar was very interactive & informative & was a great success and attended by more than 950 Students from Management and Computer Application Department of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University. At the end, the Master of Ceremony proposed a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries & students.
The webinar was also attended by HoD, Management, Dr Megha Agarwal, HoD, Computer Applications, Dr Sonal Sharma and Mr Abhishek Kumar Pathak, Head Cultural & Academic events (UIM) along with other Faculty Members of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University.
