Webinar on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

On 26 June 2022, the BIOGENERIKA- Student Club, Department of Biotechnology, SALS organised a webinar on “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”.  The event started with the lighting of lamp by Dean, SALS, Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh. Dr Nishesh Sharma, HoD Biotechnology addressed the gatherings and shared his views on the importance of organizing such events. Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS shared his valuable thoughts and the importance of awareness to us. In his address he emphasized the importance of the issue with specific reference to youth and students as drug abuse not only ruins their careers but also is life-threatening. He emphasized the contribution of one and all to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Dr. Nishesh Sharma, HOD of Biotechnology in his address also gave thought to the topic and emphasized the role of each one in developing a society free from drug abuse. He mentioned that creating awareness and helping the needful is a key player in fighting against drug abuse. Dr Sudhanshu Mishra, Dr Indra Rautela, Dr Monika Singh, and Dr Minakshi Rajput delivered their expert talks on drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The webinar was coordinated by Dr Sudhanshu Mishra, Organizing Secretary. The students participated in oral and poster presentation sessions and presented posters, PowerPoint presentations and videos describing the ill effects of drug consumption. Nikhil, Tanisha, and Megha Joshi from B.Sc. (H) Biotechnology participated actively to organize this webinar. The best presentation award was given to Megha Joshi.  The event was successfully organized virtually and students ensured keen participation. The event was all about creating awareness and knowing the ways to cure physical & mental ailments and gaining peace through meditation & self-introspection. The event ended with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr Monika Singh and Dr Minakshi Rajput.
