The ‘Jhankaar’ Club, under the aegis of Cultural Committee of Uttaranchal University, organized a “Talent Hunt” for tapping the dancing talent amongst the students of Uttaranchal University. This was the first time that a Dance Competition was organized at such a grand level. The event was organised by Dr. Bharti Ramola Head-Cultural Committee, Uttaranchal University with the help of student office bearers of Jhankaar Club namely, Keshav Moudgil(President), Vasundhara Rawat (Vice President) and Nitish Chauhan(Secretary).
The competition was conducted in two phases. The auditions were held on 16thFebruary in the Cultural Committee Room, Law College Dehradun. The event was judged by Dr. Bharti Ramola (Head-Cultural Committee, Uttaranchal University) and Dr. Prabha Lama (Coordinator, Law College Dehradun). Out of around 50 participants, 31 students were shortlisted for the Finale.
The Finale commenced on 20th February in the Seminar Hall of Law College Dehradun at 2:30 p.m. The Judge’s panel included Dr. Bharti Ramola, Dr. Prabha Lama and Mr. Amit Kumar Sharma along with student office bearers namely, Keshav Moudgil, Nitish Chauhan and Ayush Kumar. Judgement was made on the basis of various factors including clarity, connection with the audience, novelty, props etc. Many different dance fortes were showcased by the finalists including lyrical, hip hop, classical, bhangra and other folk dances. The audience was mesmerised by performances of the participants. They responded in high spirits and made sure that the finalists were motivated all the time during their performance. Student Coordinator Nishchay Thakur managed the background music, Chanchal beautifully anchored the show and Chirag and Rajkumar captured photgographs of the show.

Dr. Poonam Rawat HOD-Law graced the occasion by her presence. The Cultural Coordinators of various constituent colleges of Uttaranchal University, namely, Dr. Poonam Negi, Mr. Ravinder Rawat, Ms. Smriti Uniyal along with Mr. Abhishek Pathak were present on the occassion.
