Uttaranchal University Observes Partition Horrors on Remembrance Day

The Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was observed at Uttaranchal University, Dehradun on August 10, 2022, following the declaration by our hon’ble prime minister, Shri Narendra Modi, that August 14 would be marked as “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day” beginning in 2022. Under the guidelines provided by the UGC, the office of Dean of Students Welfare organised an exhibition that captured the sorrow, suffering, and pain that millions of people endured during the partition.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor; Prof (DR) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Prof. (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean of Students’ Welfare; Dr Kartikey, Dy DSW.
The main objective of the exhibition was to remind the country of the largest human population displacement in the last century, which also claimed the lives of a large number of people. The exhibition marked the presence of all the faculty members along with the students and was showcased with the sobriety and solemnity that it deserved. Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola, Dean UIPS, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Director USJMC and many students and members of faculty were present during the inaugural.
