Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS) believes in supporting and enriching faculty members through orientation programmes. The Faculty Orientation Program, under the direction of Prof (Dr) Sonal Sharma, Dean, USCS was organised on 12 August 2022. A Faculty Orientation Program is basically an awareness-building program for the newly recruited faculty members regarding the foundation of the university, cultural and social aspects, teaching and learning methodology, academic environment and philosophy along with system and pedagogical purview. The main objective of conducting a faculty orientation program is to transform the newly recruited faculty members into cohesive and aligned team members just from the day first.

The Master of Ceremony, Dr Monisha Awasthi, Associate Professor, USCS welcomed and introduced all the new faculty members. One by one, the new faculty members introduced themselves. Prof (Dr) Sonal Sharma welcomed the new faculty members to the family of USCS and briefed them about the school’s vision and mission. She spoke on the new teaching pedagogy and practices followed at USCS keeping the holistic development of students in view. Mr Abhishek Kumar Pathak, Head, Cultural, expounded the details of the programme coordinators, various active committees, clubs and cells. Later, Dr Rajiv Kumar, the Controller of Examinations, USCS, elaborated on the working of the USCS Exam Cell. He discussed the roles and responsibilities related to the examination. After that, Mr Ishteyaaq Ahmad, Assistant Professor, USCS demonstrated the functionality of the ERP system, including how to mark attendance, access the schedule, upload study materials, and more. Furthermore, Mr Amarjeet Rawat, Assistant Professor, USCS, discussed the lab layout and the important information that is required to be aware of when taking the labs. The session was brought to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Monisha Awasthi. The event was very fruitful and informative for new faculty members.
