A Seminar on “Skills and Attributes required for a Pharmacy Professional” was organised by Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University on 20th April, 2018 for the students of B. Pharmacy.
The Guest Speakers were Mr. Pankaj Mishra, the CEO of Medgenera (a healthcare news publication) & Doctoral Scholar at the University of Freiburg, Germany pursuing his Doctoral Research in Computer Aided Drug Design and Mr. Vikas Kumar, Country Head-India, Medgenera.
The main aim of the Seminar was to make the students aware about the current status of Pharmacy Education in India including the identified gaps in what is being taught and what is being practiced in the Industry. The students were also informed regarding the varied skills and attributes required in a Pharmacy professional to succeed in the fast changing Pharmaceutical Sector. Various new allied sectors of Pharmacy that have grown tremendously in recent times, like Pharmacovigilance, Medical writing and IPR were also enlisted. Many career-myths and career-mistakes were also addressed in the Seminar. The Guest Speakers provided valuable suggestions for an entry level career in the Health Care Industry. In the Open-House Session of the Seminar the students interacted with the speakers and increased their subject competency.
