Uttaranchal Institute of Management conducts Value Added Programme

In order to make students industry ready, Faculty of Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM) conducted a three-day “Value Added Programme” for its Final Year Post Graduate Students of Management and Computer Application Department. The programme started on 11th August 2018 and culminated on 14th August 2018. The programme focused on personality enhancement and development of employability skills.

The programme started with a Welcome Note by Program Convener- Ms. Madhu Arora and Co-Convener- Dr. Sonal Sharma. The dignitaries and the students were given an insight of the programme. Students were informed about the importance of such programmes in their personal and professional life.

Day One of the programme started with a session on “Leadership Skills” by Director-UIM, Prof.(Dr.) Pradeep Suri. Dr. Suri enlisted the essential qualities required to become an efficient leader. He highlighted many aspects like the students should work with team spirit, share responsibilities, be accountable for actions, work with integrity, be an inspiration for co-workers, to name a few.

Second Session of the day was on “Effective Presentation Skills” by Dr. Mohd. Tariq. A “Personal Counseling Session” of students was also conducted on individual basis wherein the students were given guidance on their possible areas of improvement.

Day Two started with a session of Ms. Madhu Arora on “GD Roles” in which students were trained on the tips and tricks of handling GD Sessions. A session on “CV Writing” was taken by Mr. Jitendra Singh in which he provided the perfect methodology to design an effective CV. He also briefed students about the do’s and don’ts in interview. Other sessions for the day were “Email Writing” and “Mock GD”.

The programme culminated on Day 3, the First Session of the day was “The Winning Mantras from Mahabharata”, taken by Dr. Sonal Sharma. She elaborated the learning which could be inculcated from Mahabharata in solving today’s managerial issues and how any organization should run to get a competitive edge. Other sessions for the day were on “Employability Skills” and thereafter “Mock PI’s”.

The sessions were conducted by a dedicated team of Faculty Members and Training & Placement Team, namely Dr. Sonal Sharma, Dr. Mohd. Tariq, Ms. Madhu Arora, Mr. Jitendra, Mr. Bipin Kandpal and Mr. Shivendra Chaudhary.

The programme was a great success with the enthusiastic participation of all the students and the support of teaching fraternity. The programme imparted deeper learning and understanding of industry requirements to its participants along with the learning of basic human values and etiquettes.
