Sashakti, the Women Cell of UIM organized an Intra-University Poster Making Competition on the theme of Gender Equality on 2nd December, 2017. Students from all the constituent colleges of Uttaranchal University enthusiastically participated in the event and expressed their views on the theme.
Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director-Student Affairs and IT Services, was the Chief Guest of the event. He mentioned that he was highly impressed by the views portrayed by the students in the displayed posters.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N K Joshi addressed the Sashakti Team and emphasized upon the need of frequent organization of such contests.
Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director-UIM, briefed the guests about the hard work and efforts put in by Dr. Meena Negi (Head, Sashakti – Women Cell of UIM) and Ms Shivi Chaudhary (Co-Convener, Sashakti – Women Cell of UIM).
God has created men and women equally. Women participation has increased multifold and is continuously increasing in the mainstream workforce. Women empowerment has now become an issue of Human Rights.
The main objective of organizing such an event was to extract views, initiate thought process and enable understanding regarding Gender Equality amongst the students of the present era. Such events provide the much needed exposure and enable the students to deal with situations where they face Gender Inequality.
This contest concluded after the judgement of the displayed posters. The event was adjudged by Mr Abhishek Joshi (Director-Student Affairs and IT Services), Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi (Vice Chancellor), Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri ( Director-UIM),Prof. Dr. D.S. Chaubey (Dean Research-UIM), Dr Sonal Sharma (Head-Dept. of IT), Dr. SM Mariyam Fatima (Head-Dept. of Management), Mr. Ravindra Singh Rawat (In-charge- Cultural & Academic Events, UIM)
The Winning Team was from Law College Dehradun. They were awarded the Winner’s Trophy and a Certificate by Prof. (Dr). Pradeep Suri.
The Runner up Trophy was won by Uttaranchal Institute of Management.
