School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University organizes ‘Body Mass Index Fair’

Food Tech Club of the Department of Food Technology, School of Applied and Life Sciences organized ‘Body Mass Index (BMI) Fair’ on 6thSeptember, 2018. The event was organized as a part of the ongoing observance of ‘National Nutrition Week’ (1-7thSeptember, 2018).

Body Mass Index (BMI) depends upon the weight and the height of an individual. BMI gives an idea about whether a person is overweight or normal or underweight with respect to his/her height. A large number of students from all the constituent colleges of Uttaranchal University actively participated in the Fair. The event aimed to create awareness regarding the health of an individual.

Principal-SALS Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh was highly pleased with the enthusiastic response of the students and congratulated the Faculty Members of the Department of Food Technology for organizing such an event.

The event was organized by Dr.Shuchi Upadhyay, Head – Department of Food Technology along with the Event Coordinators, namely, Er.Mahipal Singh Tomar and Dr.Richa Badola. Er. Deepika Kohli and Mrs. Bindu Naik participated and motivated the students to participate in the event. The Student Members of Food Tech Club namely Meenakshi Khadka, Ritika Khosla, Nishchay Thakur, Ayush and Shantanu were present on the occasion.

Overall outcome of the Fair:

Total number of participants : 139
Participants with Normal Weight : 108
Participants who were Overweight : 15
Participants who were Underweight : 16
