The lamp lighting ceremony of I batch of BSc (N) students of Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University, and Dehradun was held on 09/04/2022 at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Uttaranchal University. The lamp lighting ceremony formally recognizes the students’ entry into the nursing profession also it is a tribute to the founder of Nursing- Florence Nightingale. The program started with a welcome address following the address by Dr Babu D, Principal, Uttaranchal College of Nursing, who highlighted the role of nurses and the importance of ceremony in his talk.
Dr Tripti Bahuguna, Director General, Medical Health and Family welfare was the chief guest for the ceremony and addressed that nursing is a noble profession and students to be committed to their profession and the patients. Dr Bincy Pothen, Nursing superintendent of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital was the guest of Honor and lighted the lamp of 40 nursing students and said about the importance of selfless care and opportunities in the profession. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr Dharam Buddhi highlighted the need of maintaining professional standards and the importance of meticulous care to the clients and Hon’ble Pro Vice-chancellor Dr Rajesh Bahuguna specified the need for a smiling face and caring words while caring for the patients and said nurses have two dimensions of the nurse as mother and sister while rendering care. At the end, Hon’ble Chancellor Shri. Jitender Joshi rendered the presidential address to the students. He addressed the significance of quality nursing education and the futuristic role of nursing students who graduated from the University.
Finally, the program ended with cultural events and was followed by a vote of thanks.
