School of Liberal Arts organized a fourteen-day Faculty Development Programme on ‘Enhancing Speaking Skills’ from 26th December, 2019 to 10th January, 2020. The Guest Speakers included Dr. Pinki Chugh (Department Coordinator, College of Engineering Roorkee (COER), Roorkee).Mr. Animesh Sharma (HOD – English, Kukreja Institute) and Mr. Sasi Sekhar Mallampalli (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies).

Dr. Pinki Chugh has 10+ years of teaching experience to her credit. Her area of specialization is Communication Skills. Mr. Animesh Sharma is a man of dynamic personality and has good liaison with staff and students. Dr. Sasi Sekhar Mallampalli is a Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) certified professional and English Language Teaching (ELT) Consultant.

The Faculty Development Programme started with a Welcome Note delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Shriya Goyal, Dean – School of Liberal Arts. Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Vice- Chancellor – Uttaranchal University addressed the gathering with his heart-warming speech. He stressed on the importance of speaking skills in day-to- day life.

Dr.Pinki Chugh initiated the session as per schedule and dealt with importance of grammar, parts of speech, contractions, sentence structure and group discussions. She emphasised on the need to overcome hesitation while learning any language. Mr. Animesh Sharma focussed on time and tense, voice, tenses, subject-verb agreement and presentations. Mr. Sasi Sekhar emphasised on the knowledge of functional grammar in understanding any language and dealt with prepositions, verbs, creative writing and storytelling. The fourteen-day Faculty Development Programme ended with Query Session which was highly interactive.

As a ceremonial close, Ms. Reeta Rautela, Coordinator of the event, offered Vote of Thanks to all the speakers for their valuable time and the knowledge they shared.
