NSS Wing of the Uttaranchal University observes Swachchta Pakhwada

Uttaranchal University has been following the best practices in hygiene and sanitation since long. It decided to observe “Swachchta Pakhwada” from 9th to 24th September 2017 with a view of bringing intense focus on the issues and practices of cleanliness by engaging a maximum number of teaching and non-teaching staff along with the volunteers of the NSS Unit and the students of the University. There was an action plan in place for the mentioned period of fifteen days including various activities to spread the word for cleanliness and make our surroundings clean and green.

On day one students gathered for an oath taking ceremony in which they pledged to adopt best practices for personal hygiene as well as cleanliness in their social lives. The next day around 100 students resolved yet again to carry the message of cleanliness and hygiene to every nook and corner of the surroundings to maximum number of people so that the campaign could become more and more effective.

The cleanliness drive started from the campus itself where all the classrooms, laboratories, and all other rooms of the premises were cleaned together by the student volunteers. Furthermore, various activities of academic nature focusing on the cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene were put into practice.

The mission that was started by the Prime Minister of India has been taken up by every individual with great zeal and passion as people are now starting to comprehend the benefits of cleanliness. It brings many health benefits for the people and beauty to the environment. It can also attract more tourists and hence more economic growth to the nation. The university is dedicatedly playing its part continuously to realize the dream of a clean, safe and green India.
