NSS Unit of Uttaranchal University pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs’ Day

Nation observes Martyr’s Day on 30th January every year. On this day ‘Father of the Nation’ fell to the bullets of a fanatic while he was coming out after a prayer. In India, there are five days declared as Martyrs’ Day. They are named in honour of those who laid down their lives for the nation. Of these, the first falls on January 30, the day when Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948. Mahatma Gandhi led the struggle for Independence that culminated in India getting freedom from British Rule on August 15, 1947. Bapu, as he was lovingly called, played one of the most prominent roles in India’s freedom struggle and strived to attain freedom through non-violence and peaceful methods. Nation remembers the apostle of peace by remembering the Mahatma Gandhi’s message of truth and non-violence even when faced with gravest of provocation.

NSS Unit of Uttaranchal University paid tribute to the Father of the Nation by observing a two-minute silence in remembrance of the sacrifice of all the freedom fighters on 30th January 2021 at 11:05 am. All the Faculty Members and students stood at their place and observed a two-minute silence.
