NSS Unit of Uttaranchal University organizes a Seven-Day Special Camp

First Day (20-03-2021)

NSS Wing of the Uttaranchal University organized a seven-day Special Camp in Kanswali Kandoli Village from 20th – 26th March, 2021 to. Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi and Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) Devendra Pathak flagged off the bus from the University for the Camp Site.

The camp was inaugurated in the Primary School of Gram Sabha in the presence of Gram Pradhan Mr. Mukesh Kumar and former Gram Pradhan & former Zila Panchayat Member Shri Megh Singh. During the Inauguration Ceremony NSS Coordinator of the University Prof. V. K. Srivastava described the aim and objective of NSS to the students in the current scenario. The session helped the student to know each other and the purpose of upcoming events.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Sri Awadh Bihari Pal, Sri Dhiraj Bisht and Sri Viresh Kumar were present during the events.

Second Day (21-03-2021)

The second day of the Special Camp, coordinated by the NSS unit of Uttaranchal University, was started by the volunteers with a Prayer Service and an Exercise Session. The day began with a Yoga Session. The students engaged in various types of meditation, eye and neck exercises and sooryanamskaram. The session was a perfect start of the day. The volunteers felt fresh and energetic. After the morning tea and breakfast the volunteers assembled for the assembly. Thought for the day was conveyed and work was divided among the groups. Under the administration of the Camp Executive Officer Dr. V.K. Srivastava the volunteers cleaned the premises of the Camp Site and watered the plants and trees. During the Interaction Session the volunteers talked about cleanliness issues. The day closed with a social program which was coordinated by the volunteers.

Third Day (22-03-2021)

On the third day of the seven-day camp, coordinated by the NSS unit of Uttaranchal University, the volunteers deliberated upon and planned the maintenance of streets and seepage of water close to Omkareshwar Mahadeva Temple. Groups were entrusted the duty of surveying the village, cooking and road work. The day’s work involved cleaning of road. Few groups remained at the camp site to assist in the kitchen.

After lunch Dr. Srivastava elaborated upon the significance of Blood Donation. Thereafter the volunteers convey the vital information to the people of the area.

Fourth Day (23-03-2021)

The fourth day of the NSS camp began with prayer, exercise and suryanamaskar. After this the volunteers coordinated towards maintenance of streets and worked towards reduction of wastage of water in the slums. The volunteers informed the individuals about disinfection. Individuals were told how they could keep cleanliness. In the evening, the team deliberated upon “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan”. Dr. V.K. Srivastava and Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma were present throughout the discussion. In the evening, the volunteers spread awareness regarding Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan. It was reiterated that one should never deprive a girl child of her childhood. A girl child ought to be educated. In the evening, the routine of the day was written in the diary subsequently concluding the fourth day of the camp.

Fifth Day (24-03-2021)

The fifth day of the NSS camp initiated with prayer and exercise. After this the volunteer cleaned the school premises. Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav was also observed on the 5th day of the camp. NSS Officer offered homage at the memorial erected in remembrance of the freedom fighters who laid down their life for the Nation. In the evening, the volunteers were enlightened on the adverse impacts of drugs and intoxication. Thereafter, the volunteers planned the evening’s mission wherein they discussed about the adverse impacts of drugs and intoxication with the villagers. After this the volunteers wrote their everyday diary, thus, concluding the fifth day.

Sixth Day (25-03-2021)

The 6th day of the camp, coordinated by the NSS unit of Uttaranchal University, began with Surya Namaskar and prayer. Under the supervision of Dr. V.K. Srivastava the volunteers accomplished the objective of spreading awareness towards one’s obligations towards the country. In the evening the volunteers strolled around the village and spread awareness regarding cleanliness. The volunteers also conducted a cleanliness drive in the slum area near Nanda ki Chowki. 

Seventh Day (26-03-2021)

It was now time for the volunteers to bid farewell to their new companions as this was the last day of the camp. The banner was brought down and the volunteers shared the new experiences gained in NSS Camp 2021. This was when important analysis and inputs for future camps were discussed. During the camp the volunteers were able to contribute their best. They strived as a team throughout the 7 productive days thinking, planning and working together. All things considered, it was genuinely a momentous experience for each and every individual who was a part of NSS Camp 2021.
