Uttaranchal Institute of Technology celebrates ‘National Science Day’

“National Science Day Celebrations – 2016” were conducted successfully by Department of Mathematics, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University on 29th Feb, 2016.

Prof. (Dr.) S.C. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun was invited as a Chief Guest for the program. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Vijay Raj (Director, UIT), Dr. V.K. Srivastava (HOD, Mathematics) and the Chief Guest with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. This was followed by Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Coordinator of the program highlighting the significance of celebrating Science Day in remembrance of Sir “ChandrashekharaVenkata Raman” for receiving the noble prize for discovery of “Raman Effect”. He enlightened all regarding the significance of Science Day and the theme this year, i.e., “Make In India: S&T Driven Innovations” and also the role of science and technology in our daily life.

Director – UIT spoke on the emphasis of science and technology for our present generation and motivated the students for better research while applying innovative ideas and also elaborated the role of students in the development and progression of research in the field of science and technology to take up challenges at a higher level.

A lecture on the theme “Make In India: S&T Driven Innovations” was delivered. On-the-Spot Painting Competition, Essay Writing Competition and Poster Competition were also organized. It was followed by Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein students were awarded for various competitions held during February 2016.

The event turned out to be a huge success with active support of Dr. Rakesh Bhadula, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Tarun Kumar Gupta, Ms. Anu Suyal and Ms. Dipika Saxena.
