Law College Organizes Legal Awareness Camp at Balawal

Legal Aid Centre of Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University organized a Mega Legal Awareness camp at village Balawala of Doiwala Bloc in DehraDun.  Pradhans, Panchayat members, Zila Panchayat members, women Self Help Groups and social workers of nine panchayats participated in the camp.

On this occasion a skit, ‘Parwadun Ki Panchayat’.was presented by the students of the college in which they  displayed the process of Panchayat elections and showcased the roles of Panchayat Secretary, Pradhan and Panchayat members. Students also provided information about important legal issues in simple and effective way. Scenes of altercations in Panchayat sittings and lectures of student-speakers on multiple legal issues made the program an excellent learning experience for the participants, Many legal issues discussed at the program were Domestic violence, First Information Report, Motor Accidents related Information, Forest related legal information, Right to Information, Distribution and Conservation of Panchayat Lands, Drugs related Laws and Legal Assistance.

The establishment of Legal Aid Centre and dissemination of legal knowledge are in fact socio-moral obligations of Law College Dehradun. On this occasion, Chancellor of the University Mr. Jitender Joshi reiterated the resolve of the University to spread legal knowledge to every nook and corner of the society.

The legal luminaries present at this occasion were the Additional District Judge II Shri Nitin Sharma, Additional District Judge III Shri Amit Kumar Sirohi, Chief Judicial Magistrate Shri Rajeev Kumar and Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Shri Dharmendra Kumar Singh.The camp was conducted  under the guidance of District Legal Services Authority.
