Law College Dehradun organizes a Seminar on ‘Human Values, Ethics and Character Building of Youth’

Law College Dehradun pompously celebrated the 125th Anniversary of Chicago Day on 11th September, 2018. In observance of the same a Seminar was organized on ‘Human Values, Ethics and Character Building of Youth’ with reference to Swami Vivekanand Ji. Hon’ble Chancellor of the University, Shri. Jitender Joshi was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion while Dr. Suchismita Sengupta Pandey, Member – National Food Security Commission and Shri Ramesh Bhatt, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand were the Keynote Speakers of the occasion.

The program was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. At the outset, the students presented an inspiring skit based on the life and achievements of Swami Vivekanand. The performance of the student who played the role of Swami Vivekanand in the skit was very impressive as his acting presented the real life glimpses of Swami Vivekanand.

Dr. Suchsmita Pandey, in her address, elucidated the holy places of Almora, Dehradun and Bageshwar which were attached to the memories of Swamiji. She unveiled a lively image of Swami Vivekanand which is still a source of inspiration for our youth. She explained how Swamiji drew positive energy from the mountains of Uttarakhand. It is noteworthy that she has written a masterpiece on Swami Vivekanand’s stay in Uttarakhand after conducting an extensive research on the topic.

Shri Ramesh Bhatt in his speech directly linked the lectures of Swamiji with the character building of Indian Youth. He mentioned the relevance of Swami Vivekanand’s teaching in the current scenario. He also shared his historic documentary on Swami Vivekanand with the students. He considered himself obliged for getting an opportunity to serve Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal of Law College Dehradun, Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna, expressed concern over the waning reading habits among the youth which makes them bereft of the teachings of great men. However, he commended the researcher’s lectures which might regenerate the students’ interest towards books.

Those present on the occasion besides the dignitaries were the faculty members and students of Law College Dehradun.
