Law College Dehradun organizes a five-day National Symposium on “Intellectual Property Rights”

Law College Dehradun organized a five-day National Symposium from 27th to 31st July 2020 on “Intellectual Property Rights”. This 5-day Symposium was the outcome of a Memorandum of Understanding between Uttaranchal University and SS Rana & Co, which is one of the leading Corporate Legal firm active in the dissemination of legal services since 1989. The Symposium witnessed participation of more than 250 participants from every corner of the nation as well as from overseas. This National Level Forum was declared open by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna who congratulated the participants to join this forum.

It was a matter of pride that the very first session on ‘Introduction of Intellectual Property’ was taken by Mr. Vikrant Rana (Managing Partner of SS Rana & Co). The session was enlightening and very informative as Mr. Rana covered almost every aspect related to the introduction of Intellectual Property.

Day Two was devoted to ‘Trademark Laws’ and the session was taken by Ms. Ananya Banerjee (Senior Associate of SS Rana & Co). She discussed the importance of Trademarks for effective business policy of every corporate entity in the present scenario.

Day Three witnessed a very interesting session on ‘Patents and Designs’ and the speaker Ms. Sukku Singh enlightened the participants with the practical aspect of registration of Patents as well as Designs. She thoroughly discussed that how important role these two intellectual concepts play in mercantile environment of the country.

Mr. Bijit Das from SS Rana and Co., was the Keynote Speaker on Day Four. The Session was devoted to ‘Copyright Protection’. Mr. Das successfully covered every nook and corner of the concept. Mr. Das puts special emphasis on the problem of Plagiarism in academia and also discussed that how the same is connected to Copyright infringement.

On the concluding day Ms. Priya Adlakha from SS Rana and Co. discussed the enforcement aspect of the Intellectual Property Rights. With her session, this 5 day National Symposium tried to cover every aspect of the IPR in present scenario.

The 5 day National Symposium was cordially coordinated by Dr. Sukhwinder Singh (Organizing Secretary of NSIPR-2020) and the Symposium was declared closed by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University Prof.(Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna who also thanked the participants for making this Symposium a huge success.
