Law College Dehradun conducts Meeting of Board of Studies – adopts Self-Employment based Law Curriculum

Law College Dehradun conducted its Board of Studies Meeting on 21st July, 2018 to modify, amend, change and alter the existing syllabi of Integrated Graduate Law Courses and Post Graduate Courses based on self employment through skill development. Taking into consideration the emerging demand of the industry, practical utility of the subjects, inevitable need of the global society, topics like Pradhan Manthri Suraksha Bima Yojana in Insurance and Space Law in International Law was also added to the existing syllabus to make it updated. After due deliberation and discussion, new subjects like Cyber Law, Human Rights, Right to Information, Law Relating to Children and Juveniles, Competition Law, White Collar Crime maybe introduced from the Academic Session 2018-19 as Open Elective Papers for Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The new vistas shall open better opportunities to the students of law for their employment.

As Law College Dehradun is one of the top ranked Law Colleges in India, the Board of Study Committee reviewed the whole syllabi under the scheme of outcome based learning process.
Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna Dean & Principal of Law College Dehradun explained the basic and fundamental object of new syllabi stating that “it itself develops the skill, expertise and vibrant knowledge in a student”.

Present on the occasion were various experts including Prof. S. D. Sharma- Professor in Law, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow (a recipient of President Award in Research) (external), Dr. D. N. Bhatkoti –Former Faculty of Political Science, D.A.V College, Dehradun (external) Dr. Poonam Rawat (HOD –Law), Dr. L. S. Rawat, Dr. Jitendra Singh (HOD – Management) and Dr. Anil Dixit.
