Law College Dehradun celebrated ‘Teachers Day’ on 5th September 2020 in a grand manner. Although the country is suffering from the huge and devastating COVID -19 pandemic, the students of the college celebrated it virtually with utmost enthusiasm. The entire event was organized by Ms. Kanchan Anand, Head-Cultural Committee, LCD, along with the members of the committee. The Guest Speakers of the session were Dr. R.L. Nagar, Dr. Padmini Chakraborty and Dr. Lakhan Goswami. The event commenced with a warm opening speech delivered by Ms. Naina Bhatt. Further, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean-LCD and Officiating Vice- Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, addressed the gathering with his enlightening words.
The Guest Speakers took over the session and addressed the gathering on ‘Our Teachers, Our Heroes’. They elaborated upon the roles and duties of a teacher. They mainly emphasized on the importance of becoming a mentor instead of a teacher and further explained their experience in this college serving as professors of various subjects. The speakers stressed why our teachers are our heroes and highlighted the importance of a teacher in life. All agreed that every person who teaches someone in one way or the other is a teacher. Further they explained the present position and status of teachers and opined that teachers find prominent position when it comes to finding someone to give thanks to as they play a prominent role in everyone’s lives.
After Ms. Kanchan Anand’s Vote of Thanks the entire event concluded with a short video of the students of LCD wherein they conveyed their messages for the entire teaching fraternity of LCD and a short video of their dance performances which they dedicated to their teachers.
