Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organisation (HESCO) signed an MOU with Uttaranchal University Dehradun to establish a joint Center of Excellence for Energy and Eco-sustainability Research to undertake research on Energy and Eco-sustainability. The MOU was signed by Padma Bhushan Dr Anil P Joshi, Founder HESCO and Shri S C Sharma, Registrar Uttaranchal University. The Areas of research of the Center of Excellence for Energy and Eco-sustainability Research are (i) Environment & Energy (Local to Global) (ii) Conservation of Natural Resources, (iii) Bio-economy, bio farm & bio-resources, (iv) Ecological Agriculture & Horticulture, (v) Socio- Economy & Demography, (vi) Sustainable tourism and (vii) Progressive Environmental Law Advocacy. The Steering Committee of the Center of excellence will be headed by Dr Anil P Joshi and Co-chairman will be Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi. Shri Jitendra Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University said that this Center of Excellence shall be a milestone in the research of Energy and Environment and the university will provide all infrastructure support. Dr Anil Joshi mentioned that the center will be taking the energy and environmental issues from local to global and will be supporting the reverse migration of the Himalayan states. Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi briefed that the center will be working on clean and green energy with a focus on net-zero carbon economy and futuristic technology for the use of common men.
Dr Amit Srivastav, Dr Rajesh Singh, Dr Rakesh Kumar and Dr Kiran Negi were also present at the occasion of signing of MOU.
