A Guest Lecture on ‘Sports Goods Marketing in India’ was organized on 11th October, 2017, by the Department of Management, Uttaranchal Institute of Management. Mr. Abhishek Chaudhary, Recruitment Leader, Decathlon Sports Pvt. Ltd.(I) and Mr. Himanshu Pratap Singh, Store Manager, Decathlon Sports Pvt. Ltd.(I) were the Key Speakers.
The Guest Lecture was attended by the students of Management from MBA, BBA and B.Com.(Hons).
The objective was to make the students aware of how the growth and development of sports industry is creating opportunities for management professionals in a wide variety of settings, sports goods marketing being one of them. The speakers pointed out that the sports industry is regarded as one of the largest industries globally in terms of employment and revenue. They also emphasized on the fact that the business of sports is a multi-billion dollar global industry propelled by enormous consumer demand. Individuals could combine their career aspirations and passion towards sports by choosing career in marketing of sports goods.
At the end of their address, the speakers invited questions from the audience. There were numerous queries from the students regarding current sports goods industry scenario in India, to which the speakers responded with facts and figures of the industry.
The lecture was a great success as it provided intuitive learning to the students and opened up a new horizon.
