Globe Club, Uttaranchal Institute Of Management Organizes A Tree Plantation Drive

The GLOBE CLUB of Uttaranchal Institute of Management conducted a ‘Tree Plantation Activity’ on 4th September, 2021. The objective of the program was to direct student’s mind in constructive activity as well as sensitizing them towards environment and its importance in human life.

The activity was organized in association with NGO- JAI-Youth Wing Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti with due permission from ‘Forest Department, Dehradun’. The plantation drive was carried out near Rajawala road, Selaqui . The activity took place under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, (Dean-UIM), Dr.Amitabh Bhargav (HOD ,Management) Dr.Sonal Sharma (HOD Computer Applications) and was co-ordinate by Mr. Rohit Dhiman (Head-GLOBE Club), Dr. Mayank Pant, Dr.Sunil Shukla , Ms. Sonakshi Bhatia, Mr. Deepak Kumar Tyagi, Dr. Sangeeta Sundriyal, and Mr. Vivek Anand; with generous support from Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pathak (Head – Cultural and Academic Events).

Along with the GLOBE CLUB members, 140 student volunteers from different programs of UIM they participated actively and enthusiastically in the drive. In all 200 saplings were planted on the occasion, including ornamental plants, fruit bearing trees and medicinal plants (Amla, Amaltas, Bamboo, Jamun etc). The students along with the faculty members also took an oath to look after the planted saplings, plant more and more trees, and encourage others to do the same. The activity was not just focused on plantation of saplings, it also helped the volunteers to observe their natural surroundings and learn about the significance of such activities in order to contribute towards the protection of our environment against increasing air pollution and global warming.

Participants were highly energetic to make the event a big success. A spirit of teamwork, exchange of ideas and enthusiasm of the participants, especially among the students could be seen.
