The GLOBE CLUB of Uttaranchal Institute of Management conducted a ‘Tree Plantation Activity’ on 26th August, 2019. The activity was organized in collaboration with a Dehradun-based NGO- ‘Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti’ with due permission from ‘Forest Department, Jhajra Range, Dehradun’ and in association with Mr.Vinayak (President, Jai – Youth Wing of the above Society).
Shri. Sahdev Singh Pundir (MLA – Sahaspur), Smt. Shubha Verma (Patron, Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti), Dr. Pradeep Suri (Director, UIM, Uttaranchal University), Shri. Vinayak Sharma (President, Jai –Youth Wing of the Society), Ms. Nitika Sharma (Vice-President-Jai), Ms. Gitika Sharma (Secretary-Jai), Ms. Ambika Sharma and Mr. Tarshit Shrivastava graced the occasion by their benign presence. The dignitaries also planted saplings at the venue.
The activity was co-ordinated by the Head of Globe Club, Mr.Rohit Dhiman with support from Mr. Ravindra Singh Rawat (Head – Cultural and Academic Events) and the Faculty Members Ms. Anu Sayal, Mr. Mayank Pant, Ms. Sangeeta Sundriyal, Dr. Deepa Bisht and Dr. Monisha Awasthi.
Along with the GLOBE CLUB members, a large number of student volunteers of UIM also participated actively and enthusiastically in the activity.
The location selected for the activity was Jhajra Forest Land, Dehradun. A huge number of saplings were planted for this activity, including saplings of fruit-bearing trees (Mango, Guava, Pomegranate etc.) and plants of medicinal value (Neem, Amlaetc).The activity was not just focused on plantation of saplings, it also helped the volunteers to observe their natural surroundings and learn about the significance of such activities in order to contribute towards the protection of our environment against air pollution and global warming.
