Gandhiji and Shastriji Jayanti

School of Agriculture (SOA) celebrated Gandhiji and Shastriji Jayanti on 1st October 2021 at 12:00 pm on the Ground Floor of Agriculture Block. The event was organised by the Cultural Committee, SOA. To celebrate this day, an Essay Writing Competition was organised on the topic ‘Need of Gandhian Principles in the Modern World’. Students were asked to write their views on the topic. They were bound with a word limit of five hundred in thirty minutes only. There was one more event under the same celebration in which various small activities were organized. The event was started with Lamp Lighting by the Dean, HoD, and other faculty members of the School of Agriculture. Prof (Dr) M P Singh, Dean, SOA initiated the event and welcomed everyone. He spoke on the significance of education and a must character of students ‘Behaviour’. Then there was Saraswati Vandana which was sung by Sonakshi Rana and Himani of the III semester. Speeches on the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri were enlightened by T Naveen Kumar, V semester, Dhananjay Kumar, V semester, Pankaj Kumar, I semester, Vaibhav Negi, I semester and Gunjan Rawat, V semester. Saumya Muskan of V semester sang ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ and mesmerized the audience with her beautiful voice. Shubham Raj of V semester rendered a poem depicting today’s world and its culture. All the students performed enthusiastically. The ethereal beauty of the event was that all the students watched all the performances patiently and seriously. Dr Rajendra Prasad, HoD, SoA proposed the vote of thanks and also inspired the students to conserve resources so that the upcoming generation can use them. At the end, Oath was taken by all the attendees of the celebration which was led by HoD, SOA. Dean, SOA appreciated the effort of the organisers and aspired to organize such events more in the future. Ms Nishat of V Semester and Ms Riya Thapa of III Semester anchored this event.
