Finance Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, after the success of previous event on 22nd Jan, 2021 organized another advanced series of Exclusive Webinar Program on “Introduction of Commodity Derivatives Market” in collaboration with NCDEX (National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited) on 30th January, 2021 through the virtual platform.This event emphasized on making students aware about the advanced and deep core knowledge aboutcommodity derivative markets which are investment tools that allow investors to profit from certain commodities and derivative market investments. The buyer of a derivatives contract buys the right to exchange a commodity for a certain price at a future date. The buyer may be buying or selling the commodity. Like a stock, one can invest in a commodity through the commodity bourses. Currently, the Forward Markets Commission allows futures trading in India for around 120 commodities. Speakers also mentioned the various investment instruments of the commodity derivative market.

Dean- UIM Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri addressed the event with his enlightening words with some core concepts of Commodity Derivative Market. He mentioned that commodity market is less risky than investment in other avenues. He also mentioned about the history of commodity market. In India, commodity market was started in 1875. 58% of GDP of India comes from commodity market. The current issues of farmers can be sorted out easily if farmers go through the platform of NCDEX & MCX where they can directly quote the price of their agricultural products in the market.
Mr. Imran Khan (Speaker NCDEX) mentioned about the types of commodities traded in Indian commodity market. Mr. Kana Ram Meena(Speaker NCDEX) explained in detail the trading methods and options in goods in derivative market.
HOD-Computer Application, Dr. Sonal Sharma and HOD-Management, Dr. Amitabh Bhargav also graced the event with their benign presence. They encouraged the students to participate with zest while also making them ready to face the challenges in future.
44 students joined the event and asked relevant questions from the eminent speakers.
