The Environmental club of Uttaranchal University organized a one-day Seminar on Bio Energy on 9th September 2021. The event was inaugurated by lighting of the auspicious lamp together by Honorable Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi and Vice- Chancellor (Officiating) Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dr R K Jain, Technical Expert UNIDO, Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, President, Eco-Club & Dean SALS, Prof (Dr) S D Pandey Dean UIT, Prof (Dr) V K Srivastava HOD Mathematics, Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola Coordinator Eco- Club and Prof (Dr) Poonam Negi Treasurer Eco- Club.
Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, President Eco- Club welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and he reiterated on the need of the conservation of Himalayan Bio-diversity for sustainability. The keynote speaker for the Seminar, Dr Rakesh Kumar Jain, Technical Expert for United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), also voiced the need of green technology in utilizing waste generated in the region to produce useful material and energy. This would be beneficial for reducing the waste and pollution levels in a region. Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Jitendra Joshi was very happy to see the participation of students in large numbers in the event. Vice-Chancellor (Officiating), Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna deliberated on the importance of Himalayas to the very existence of human being.
A poster Presentation Competition was also organized on the topic of ‘Cultural Diversity of the Himalayas’. Students from all the Schools of Uttaranchal University presented very creative posters depicting different cultures of various states and Union Territories of Himalayan Region showcasing the religion, costume, food, dances etc. of the Himalayan regime. The events were organized by Dr Bharti Ramola with the help of faculty members of Eco Club namely, Ms Madhu Karola, Dr Rachna Juyal, Dr Sangeeta Sundriyal, Dr Tarun Parashar, Mr Shivam, Mr Kamran and Ms Anamika Thapa with the coordination of student coordinators namely Mr Soubhagya Krishna Dev, Ms Aashita Aswal, Mr Aakash Tyagi and others from various Schools of Uttaranchal University. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Dr Bharti Ramola, coordinator Eco-Club.
