CSE Department organizes a one week FDP on “Research Methodology” in collaboration with CSI

A one week Faculty Development Programme on “Research Methodology” (FDP-2017) was successfully conducted in Uttaranchal University’s Computer Science and Engineering Department. The FDP was in collaboration with Computer Society of India (CSI), Dehradun Chapter. The Programme received an overwhelming response with nearly 100 internal as well as external participants.

The Inaugural Ceremony was conducted on 4th December, 2017 in the Seminar Hall. The event was initiated by Mr. C. Kumar, Chairman, CSI, Dehradun Chapter, Mr. Anil Kakkar, Vice Chairman, CSI, Dehradun Chapter, Mr. Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) B. Lonia, Director-UIT, Dr. Manoj Diwakar, Head – Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Mr. Tarun Kumar, Program Coordinator.

The main objective behind organizing this FDP was to understand the significance of alignment amongst the fundamental elements of effective teaching and learning. The focus was to provide a comprehensive overview of a broad range of research paradigms and methods.

In his Welcome Address Hon’ble Chancellor, Mr. Jitender Joshi shared his views and asserted that if the faculty members want to academically develop themselves and their students, then Faculty Development Programmes were a perfect platform.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi stated that such programs help to improve the teaching performance of the faculty and highlighted the importance and objectives of organizing Faculty Development Programmes. He briefed the participants regarding the subjects chosen for the FDP and highlighted the reasons and significance of the same.

The Resource Person of the event, Mr. C. Kumar started his discussion with the very basic idea of the concept of education, learning and teaching. He shared the important aspects of the teaching-learning process. Mr. Anil Kakkar reiterated that these kinds of programs are beneficial for the faculty members and the research scholars. He stated that research is a major component of teaching and through active participation can catalyze academic and professional growth.

The proceeding sessions were headed by Prof.(Dr.) B. Lonia, Director-Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Dr. Mayank Aggarwal, Head – Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Gurukul Kangari University, Dr. Manoj Diwakar, Head – Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Uttaranchal University and by Dr. Amit Agarwal, Head-Department of Virtualization, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.

The Certificate Distribution Ceremony was presided by Hon’ble Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and Respected Prof. (Dr.) B. Lonia, Director-UIT.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Tarun Kumar, Program Coordinator. He extended his gratitude towards all the distinguished dignitaries, Key Speakers and Faculty Members of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for their support. He also congratulated all the participants for the successful completion of the one week Faculty Development Programme.
