Programs for Applied Physics are designed to provide in-depth knowledge and its various concepts/advanced physics theories and experiments. The courses at UG, PG and PhD levels, train students to carry out multiple research projects and presentation on various topics, such as light, sound, vibration, and radiation etc. Programs help in enhancing the skills of students through personality development, English communication, computer skills etc. Engineering physics is being offered to students of engineering programs.

About the Program

B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics is a three year Honors Program. The thrust of this Program is to impart extensive knowledge of Physics, both in theoretical and practical spheres. The Programme involves Thermodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Optics, Heat & Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, Atomic, Nuclear & Particle Physics and Lasers & Instrumentation and Electronics. Besides these, the students will also study the generic subjects like English, Mathematics and Computer Application.

A Degree in Physics offers numerous career options. In the study of Physics there is focus on concepts of fields like Electronics, Mathematical Physics, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, Heat Thermodynamics. With a Graduate Degree, a student has option to opt for Post Graduate Program or eligible for Competitive Examination at State or National Level.

Admission Procedure:
  • The admission is based on merit, computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible candidates.
  • Out of the total intake, 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand under the State Quota and the rest are open to students from all India. In case the allotted percentage of seats of State Quota remains vacant, it will be filled by All India students.
